Brie Cox, Co-Founder &

Policy, Strategy and Innovation Specialist

Brie Lowry Cox, CEO/Co-Founder of Cox Consulting, is a social impact management consultant specializing in strategy, innovative partnerships, policy, grants and thought leadership with large healthcare institutions, agriculture departments and adjacent private-sector industry players.


Her work began at the intersection of preventive healthcare and food insecurity in the Central Appalachian region in healthcare after delivering COVID communications strategies for 35+ hospitals. Today, it encompasses building cross-sector partnerships and nation-leading models to implement adaptable food is medicine and lifestyle medicine strategies, institutional procurement solutions, grants and health access, such as mobile care and health tech, across Kentucky, West Virginia, Virginia, Ohio, Georgia, Tennessee and Florida. The work is grounded in the private sector, nonprofit healthcare, but leverages state agriculture departments and policymakers’ priorities.


Brie has served on multiple federal grants with the US Department of Agriculture, the Appalachian Regional Commission and Medicare FLEX programs–all in pursuit of advancing rural prosperity and driving impact to local economies through agriculture and healthcare industries to meet communities where they are.

A former ballerina, Brie danced professionally for a decade with American Ballet Theatre (NYC) and Kentucky Ballet Theatre. In 2014, Brie was appointed Executive Director of KBT, where she served for four years. Brie was featured in Dance Teacher magazine in 2015 and performed over 50 works and classical ballets during her time on stage.​

 

A restaurateur by accident, Brie met her husband, TJ Cox, and his business partner, James Beard semi-finalist Chef Jonathan Lundy, at one of their former restaurants. Since 2011, she has created and managed her team’s restaurant brands. Currently, her team owns Corto Lima, Lexington’s favorite Latin eatery, and 3TEN, a new (2024) Pacific Rim restaurant. Their hospitality team maintains a luxury catering operation and opened ItalX, a modern fine dining Italian concept, during the pandemic for the Greer Companies to great acclaim.

Originally from St. Louis, Missouri, Brie graduated Cum Laude from Texas Christian University’s School of Classical & Contemporary Dance with a Bachelor of Fine Arts degree in Ballet Performance, a business minor from the Neeley School of Business, and as an award-winning honors laureate from the John V. Roach Honors College in Fort Worth, Texas.
